Volunteer Firefighter Speaks Out

Just saw this on another web site:

It seems like Bob is at it again by putting words in the volunteer firefighters mouth again without checking.  We DO NOT get screamed at every day as he has said we DO NOT live in fear of being fired (how do you fire a volunteer), we do NOT live in fear of being transferred. The third station he keeps referring to has been talked about for 20 plus years that I know of. So when he says something about the fire department take it with a grain of salt like everything else he has said. Because I can say this with 20 plus years of service he hasn't checked it out.

I concur
Bob you need to get a new resource for your Fire Department information, The one you have is giving you a lot of bad information...

A Columbus Township Volunteer Firefighter

I wonder if he even has a source or maybe he's just making it all up.

Bob's lame response on the other website:

"I have seen the rage. I have been told by numerous firefighters that he does scream every day. They fear they will be fired or transferred.
Volunteers do get fired there. And repeatedly threatened to be fired.

You're right. They are volunteers and should never be fired. But some are. Or pushed out for having a backbone and speaking up.

If you think I say something untrue, prove me wrong. Don't just deny it, prove me wrong. You can't."

I guess Bob can just say anything that pops into his tiny brain and it's on everyone else to prove him wrong. Hey Bob, why don't you prove yourself right for once? You can't.

Bob's second lame response on the other site:

"Now that said, I have been a hot head in my life too. I know people can change. I think the situation can change. "

Have been!?! And he thinks he has changed? Delusional.

I too have been a firefighter for over 20 years. I helped repair trucks and equipment many times in cramped spaces with no place to work, store tools, or store parts being worked on in safety.

Both the paid staff and the Maintenance Facility are some of the best things that have happened to Emergency Services in Columbus Township.

From what I read here and on columbuzz, Bob Freeman doesn’t know or understand Emergency Services anywhere, especially in Columbus Township. On one occasion he says we don’t need two fire stations. Check the ISO requirements Bob. He doesn’t want paid firefighters but then finds that that are in the union, so there are OK now. But, at the Township budget review, he still wants to remove their funding. Kind of two face if you ask me.

If Bob is elected Trustee, Bob’s numerous sources would get the world without having to prove need, qualifications, go asked to get a job. Also, sounds like your job is going away Bob so you want to be Trustee to replace your (about to be) lost income.

Well Bob the Chief or no other person can fire a volunteer 1 of 2 things have to happen with in the department. I'm going to try to explain this to you so please keep up with me..
1. A Firefighter resigns on there own for what ever reason.
2. 2/3rd of the active membership can remove a person if they fill the need for some reason. This is usually done for for violating the department rules.(ie not following safety polices, standard of conduct standard, or just being a idiot)

What happens most of the time is they will resign to not have to face there pears.

Just as any group there has to be rules and they have to be followed. In this business there is lives on the line everyday the public's and ours we don't need members that can not follow the rules..

If that makes people mad at anyone that is fine but the bottom line is someone has to enforce the rules and that is the people on the top just as any Department. If something goes wrong who butt do you think is on the line. It sounds to me if those people are unhappy about that then maybe they should go to another Department were there is no rules....
